Today, a special commemorative programme was organized at St. Mary’s Academy to mark the dual significance of Gandhi Jayanti and Vijayadashami, symbolizing the timeless message of the triumph of righteousness over malevolence. The distinguished dignitaries gracing the occasion were Dr. Virottam Tomer (Chief Guest), our Superior Rev. Brother Paul, and Rev. Brother Pradeep.
The programme unfolded with reflections on 2nd October, extolling Mahatma Gandhi’s immortal message of Ahimsa (non-violence) and its eternal relevance.
Students of Class V enthralled the audience with a spectacular portrayal of Navdurga culminating in the vanquishing of Mahishasura. The grand Ramayana enactment began with the birth of Lord Rama and the festivity culminated with a jubilant depiction of Lord Rama’s triumphant return from exile.
The Chief Guest, in his inspiring address, urged the students to tread steadfastly on the path of truth and virtue, while reflecting on the essence of Dharma. He recited the timeless dictum:
“काक चेष्टा, बको ध्यानम्,
श्वाननिद्रा अल्पाहारी, गृहत्यागी — विद्यार्थी के पांच लक्षण।”
The Kindergarten students too marked the day with exuberance, celebrating Dussehra through captivating recitations, prayer dances, Ramayana songs, and a musical play that enthralled the audience. The august presence of Shri Sharat Chandra, Chairman and Founder of Shalimar Group, further added prestige and dignity to the celebration.
The spectacular burning of Ravana, Meghnath, and Kumbhkaran effigies served as the climactic finale, powerfully reaffirming the eternal message of truth’s victory over falsehood and righteousness over unrighteousness.
The vibrancy, zeal, and dedication of the participants were truly praiseworthy. In his closing benediction, the Chief Guest once again exhorted the students to imbibe truth, courage, and dharma in their lives. The programme was a resounding success, held under the visionary guidance of our esteemed Principal, Rev. Brother Anand.
