A Grand 79th Independence Day Celebration at St. Mary’s Academy
Today, St. Mary’s Academy came alive with the spirit of patriotism as we celebrated the 79th Independence Day in all its grandeur.
We were honoured to have Colonel G.S. Madan as our Chief Guest, along with Superior Brother Paul and Brother Pradeep gracing the occasion.
The day began with our Senior Wing students setting out for the Prabhat Pheri. This was followed by the flag hoisting, salutation to the Tricolour, the National Anthem, and echoing patriotic slogans.
The Middle Wing girls paid tribute to the nation through a graceful dance performance on “Bharat Yeh Rehna Chahiye”. A soul-stirring patriotic skit portrayed stories of sacrifice and courage, interwoven with mesmerising dances. Group songs like “Lehra Do”, “Jai Ho”, and “Desh Mere” filled the auditorium with the essence of devotion to the motherland. When our Class 5 children danced to “Yeh Desh Hai Veer Jawano Ka”, the audience couldn’t resist clapping along. 👏
The Chief Guest appreciated the performances, reminding students of the value of freedom, the struggles of the pre-independence era, and the contributions of both renowned and unsung heroes. His message inspired all to stay disciplined, speak the truth, and keep our nation clean.
Superior Brother Paul presented a memento to the Chief Guest as a token of gratitude.
Our Kindergarten students also celebrated with vibrant performances on the eve of Independence Day. From adorable dances by L.K.G. children, to nursery students’ heart-winning acts and colourful fancy dress show depicting Unity in Diversity, to U.K.G.’s patriotic skit, action song, and energetic dance — the little ones left everyone in awe.
Under the able guidance of Rev. Brother Anand, the celebration was a resounding success. The day concluded with chocolates distributed to all students — a sweet ending to a truly memorable occasion.
